Shri Anoop Antony’s Role in the Chhattisgarh Nun Rescue Case (2025)
In July 2025, two Malayali Catholic nuns were arrested in Chhattisgarh on allegations of human trafficking and forced religious conversion. The incident caused significant political controversy. Shri Anoop Antony, as Kerala BJP State General Secretary and a prominent Christian leader, intervened decisively by traveling to Raipur to engage with Chhattisgarh authorities, including the Chief Minister and Deputy CM.
He met the nuns in judicial custody, advocated for their just treatment, and sought their release, ensuring legal support amid serious allegations. His intervention helped garner support from the BJP leadership and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, leading to pivotal steps for the nuns’ bail and release.
This case highlights Shri Anoop Antony’s dedication to justice and his role as a protector of minority rights, standing firm against misuse of laws and ensuring fair legal process for vulnerable communities.
